For most of my Christian life, I believed money was unspiritual. That wanting financial stability meant I was materialistic. That good Christians weren't supposed to care about money. So I ignored my finances. I avoided my bank account. I stayed stuck — financially and spiritually. Until I actually read my Bible.

The Bible mentions money over 2,000 times — more than faith, more than prayer. God has a LOT to say about your finances. And most of it is not what the church taught us.

God is not against your financial success. He is against greed. He is against dishonesty. He is against money becoming your god. But wise stewardship? Saving? Budgeting? Building wealth to bless others? That is thoroughly, completely biblical.

Proverbs 21:20 — "The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down." God calls saving wisdom. A budget is not a restriction — it is an act of faithfulness.

Luke 16:10 — "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much." God doesn't start you with abundance. He starts you with a test. How you handle what you have now determines what He will trust you with next.

Matthew 6:33 — "Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Kingdom first. Provision follows. This is God's financial order.

Financial shame is one of the heaviest and least-discussed burdens in the church. We talk about forgiveness. We talk about grace. But somehow, when it comes to money mistakes — debt accumulated, savings neglected, impulsive decisions made — many Christian women feel that God must be disappointed in them.

No condemnation. Not some condemnation. Not condemnation-unless-you-made-bad-financial-decisions. No condemnation, full stop.

Shame around money often has roots in our upbringing. How did your family talk about money? Was it a source of stress, secrecy, or conflict? Those early experiences shape the beliefs we carry into adulthood — often without realizing it. The woman who watched her mother cry over unpaid bills may carry a deep fear of her own finances. The woman who grew up hearing "we can't afford that" may struggle with a scarcity mindset decades later.

Healing begins with honesty — with God and with yourself. Open your bank account. Look at your numbers. Not to punish yourself, but to face reality with grace and begin to steward it intentionally. You cannot change what you refuse to look at.

The Proverbs 31 woman wasn't fearless because she had everything figured out. She was fearless because she knew who her Provider was. That same fearlessness is available to you — starting today.

Financial freedom is not built overnight. It is built one faithful habit at a time. The woman who builds small, consistent, God-honoring financial habits will look back in a year and barely recognize the transformation. Here are five habits to start this month — rooted in scripture, practical in application.

Before you pay a single bill or spend a single dollar, give 10% back to God. This is not about earning blessing — it is about trust. Tithing declares: God, You are my source, not this paycheck.

A budget is a plan. Proverbs 21:5 tells us that the plans of the diligent lead to profit. Before the month begins, write down your income and tell every dollar where to go. Pray over it. Then work the plan.

Even $25 a month builds the habit of wisdom. Proverbs 21:20 calls saving wisdom and spending everything foolishness. Start small. Build the discipline. God honors faithful savers.

Set a 15-minute weekly money date with yourself. Look at your bank account, check your budget, and see where you stand. Avoidance breeds anxiety. Awareness breeds peace.

Your finances are not outside of God's concern. Bring them to Him in prayer — your income, your expenses, your debt, your goals. He cares about every area of your life, including what's in your account.
